Menstrual migraine

A subtype of migraine, usually without aura, triggered by the sharp drop in oestrogen associated with the menstrual cycle. During perimenopause it tends to become more frequent and disabling, and less responsive to usual treatment, because of irregular hormonal fluctuations.
